I. INTRODUCTION

                                                                INTRODUCTION

English 111 explores ways that writers portray human experience in their short stories, poems and plays. Through class discussions, lectures and creative responses, students will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of literary works. Because the study of literature has been closely entwined with literary theory in recent decades, and because I find that introduction to literary theory provides students with practical critical thinking tools for textual analysis, I have added the following goal for this course: Students will develop and express personal analytic responses to a variety of works of literature, paying special attention to the ways that literary works are crafted and also to the ways that readers’ interpretations of literary works are subject to their perspectives and/or various theoretical frameworks.

is like a thorns of a rose
      that poke's my heart.

TURN AROUND POEM

Life begins its amazing journey
Into sorrow some are bound
But when the heartache comes
Look to God

The ground, it may be furrowed
And we know not of the end
Just walk with Him in hope
Hold tight the hand of your Friend.

Walk, deep, deep into this life
Even when the light fades to dim
Walk that furrowed ground dear one
Believe that you walk with Him.

For our sorrow is His sorrow
On the furrowed ground we weep
Watering the seeds our Lord will plant
So walk beside Him in the deep.

See the miracle that followed behind
As you walked on furrowed ground
Rivers and valleys, flowers and streams
Greet your eyes when you turn around.

Sing Glory, Glory, Glory to God
For this marvel that has come to be
Look to Christ for eternal life in ecstasy
Turn around, Turn around and see.

IV. PHILIPPINE LITERATURE

Philippine Literature

The literature associated with the Philippine and includes the legends of prehistory, and the colonial legacy of the Philippines, written in both Indigenous, and Hispanic languages. Most of the notable literature of the Philippines was written during the Spanish period and the first half of the 20th century in Spanish language. Philippine literature is written in Spanish, English, Tagalog, and other native Philippines languages.

The important of Philippine Literature:

The Philippine literature, it is important because by this we can preserve the literature's we have today. If no one would introduce or explain it to the up coming generations it would not exist in the next generation.

Literature (from Latin litterae (plural); letter) is the art of written work. The word literature literally means: "things made from letters". Literature is commonly classified as having two major forms—fiction and non-fiction—and two major techniques—poetry and prose.
Literature may consist of texts based on factual information (journalistic or non-fiction), a category that may also include polemical works, biography, and reflective essays, or it may consist of texts based on imagination (such as fiction, poetry, or drama). Literature written in poetry emphasizes the aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language—such as sound, symbolism, and metre—to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, ordinary meanings, while literature written in prose applies ordinary grammatical structure and the natural flow of speech. Literature can also be classified according to historical periods, genres, and political influences. While the concept of genre has broadened over the centuries, in general, a genre consists of artistic works that fall within a certain central theme; examples of genre include romancemysterycrimefantasyerotica, and adventure, among others.
